(Beginning Paragraph)
Peter Frampton sat in on a Small Faces gig 19th October 1968 and got on well enough with Steve Marriott to precipitate this entire bowl of spaghetti.
Confirmed:
October 19, 1968 - Small Faces at Bubble Club, Brentwood, England
(Peter Frampton sat in with the band)
Set List:
1. "Rollin' Over"
2. "Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am"

https://www.ronnielane.com/small-faces-concert-tour-dates-with-ronnie-lane-master-page.html
Marriott had been a reluctant child actor who left home at 14 to escape, and "lived in a mud hut in Finsbury Park owned by this Pakistani. Anyway, I couldn't act - I could only be myself... so all I got was cockney-kid parts".
After recording one single for Decca, "Give Her My Regards"/"Imaginary Love" (F11619), in March 1963, he was "discovered" by Andrew Loog Oldham - with whom he cut two singles - neither released.

Peter Frampton gigged through late 1964/early 1965 with Steve Marriott and the Moments but, unable to scratch a living, took a job washing up at Lyons Corner House - with Ronnie Lane. "I couldn't stick it, my hands went brown with all the bleach they used - so I bottled out after a day... then we started The Small Faces".
~The above story contradicts that Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott first met at a music/instrument shop?

-Peter Frampton left The Herd March 1969

SMALL FACES #1 July 1965 to March 1969
(https://www.ronnielane.com/small-faces.html)
-Riding the pop-art/mod sub-culture in the wake of the Who, the Small Faces had a string of 10 top twenty hits
-Only two of 14 Small Faces singles failed to make the top 40
-Marriott: "We were a very successful pop group: on record, we always had a manager and producer who wanted hits - so they were usually gimmicky and contrived. On stage we were raw rockers."
SMALL FACES #1 Band Memebrs

-Jimmy Winston, keyboards (July-October 1965)
-Ian McLagan, keyboards (of Boz & the Boz People, replaced Winston October 1965)

-Released two albums: Truth and Beck-Ola (for full details see Jeff Beck chart)

FACES #1 June 1969 to May 1973
(https://www.ronnielane.com/faces.html)
-After a surprisingly slow start, the Faces bacame one of the most popular live bands in Britain and America
-though their albums were generally miserable compared with the flair and excitement of their stage shows
(usually characterized by drunkenness and lunacy)
-"We're very close to each other," said Stewart "...we're going to be togehter for life".
-Ronnie Lane had other plans, however, and pulled out after much rancour and bitterness
FACES #1 Band Members
-Ian McLagan, keyboards/vocals
-Kenney Jones, drums/vocals
-Ron Wood, guitar/vocals
-Rod Stewart, vocals
-Ronnie Lane, bass/vocals

~Tetsu Yamauchi did not first play with Faces until August 1973 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsu_Yamauchi
-This line-up made debut at Edmunton Sundown on June 1st 1973, and a period of great popularity ensued
-The band, however, saw Rod's standing escalate furiously while they were increasingly regulated to a subordinate backing role
-In April 1975, Rod quit UK for tax reasons and Ron Wood went off as a "temporary" guitarist for the Rolling Stones

-the Passing Show proved too ambitious a project: "I couldn't hold it up after 8 weeks because I didn't have any more money.....it was as simple as that," said Ronnie, "We were flogging everything in the end - just to buy enough diesel to move the show.....and I always seemed to be arguing with fire officers and local authorities over regulations they claimed I was infringing. It was like one of those Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes".
