Fifty-five years ago today, May 26, 1967, Small Faces single "Patterns" was released by the band's manager Don Arden, NOT authorized by the band. "Patterns" was the eighth single by Small Faces and the first of two unauthorized singles released in the UK (the second being "Afterglow (of Your Love)" in 1969). "Patterns" became one of few singles by Small Faces featuring Ronnie Lane on primary vocals, in contrast to Marriott's standard role as lead vocalist.
