Small Faces "I've Got Mine" (with Jimmy Winston) from the film "Dateline Diamonds" 1965
Dateline Diamonds is a 1965 British music-film.
The film was shot in black and white. The "pop and cop" genre of film was a popular concept in the UK during the early 1960s to highlight young music talent and was geared to appeal directly to the young teenage market.
The film was a low-budget B movie and released to support the main feature film Doctor in Clover starring Leslie Phillips. The plot involves an international criminal gang who use the MV Galaxy (the ship which was the home of 1960s pirate radio station Radio London) to smuggle stolen diamonds from the UK to Amsterdam. (This plot point is based on a number of false assumptions: firstly, that bands would be asked to give interviews on board the ship: any interviews would in fact have been taped on land; secondly, that bands' agents would be allowed to visit the ship in order to promote their clients:
they would not; thirdly, that agents for Dutch bands would take boats directly to the ship from The Netherlands;
and finally, that people visiting the pirate radio ships would not be searched by Customs).
The final sequence, showing Ray Anton and Pro Forma, Mark Richardson and the Small Faces performing on stage, was filmed during a genuine Radio London night at the Rank Ballroom in Watford.
Dateline Diamonds features the original lineup of British band Small Faces
(Jimmy Winston was replaced in 1966 by Ian McLagan). Band manager Don Arden arranged for Small Faces
to appear in the film as a promotional vehicle for "I've Got Mine", the follow-up to their debut single
"Whatcha Gonna Do About It". However, the film's release was delayed and the band received no other publicity
for their single, which failed to chart. The film also features a young Kiki Dee.
Dateline Diamonds was released on VHS and is currently available on DVD format.

Correct lip synch to original vinyl record version.
"Corrected" version of the video.
This uses my 7" mono copy of the record, which would have been the same as the version they were miming to on this footage and not the stereo CD version that is currently available and has recently been overlaid to this footage. The CD versions have extra vocal from Steve Marriott, which in the clip you can see, he doesn't sing.
So this is more in keeping with the moment. Enjoy.

Radio interview from the Dutch program "Poster" in June 1983, Ronnie Lane tells us about the origins of their great hit "Itchycoo Park", where the melody stems from (the hymn God Be In My Heart and In My Understanding), the real location of the park and why they changed the name to Itchycoo.

The ARMS Charity Concerts were a series of charitable rock concerts in support of Action into Research for Multiple Sclerosis. The first (and initially planned to be the only) event took place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20, 1983, with subsequent dates occurring in the United States, with slightly different lineups of musicians. The idea for hosting the concert was envisaged by Ronnie Lane, ex-bassist for The Small Faces, The Faces and founder of the band Slim Chance, himself a casualty of multiple sclerosis. The concert was billed as The Ronnie Lane Appeal for ARMS and featured a star-studded line-up of British musicians, including Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, John Paul Jones, Andy Fairweather-Low, Bill Wyman, Ray Cooper, James Hooker, Tony Hymas, Simon Philips, Fernando Saunders, Chris Stainton, Kenney Jones and Charlie Watts. The concert was particularly notable in the fact that it was the first occasion on which Clapton, Beck and Page, each a former lead guitarist for The Yardbirds, had performed together on stage. Ronnie was too ill by then and was only able to perform "Good Night, Irene" for the encore. Rousing rendition!

"Live at Big Mamou, Jan.8, 1988. Unaired television footage shot for a local cable program called Splash One. Produced by Norman Wright for Austin CableVision. Ronnie Lane and Slim Chance (this time really The Make Believers, who closed the show and were taped doing their own set, and really were billed as ‘The Make Believers'): Alejandro Escovedo and Jon Dee Graham - guitars, J.D. Foster - upright bass, Freddie Krc - drums, Susan Voelz - violin, David Crawford - horns. The complete set list included: “April Fool,” “Roll On Babe,” “Don't Try ‘n' Change My Mind,” “Kuschty Rye,” “Rio Grande,” “Flags and Banners,” “You Never Can Tell,” “Under The April Skies,” “Spiritual Babe,” “You're So Rude,” “The Poacher,” “Nowhere To Run,” “Ooh La La,” and “Debris.” A year later, Kent persuaded Ronnie to allow three songs -- “Kuschty Rye,” “Nowhere To Run,” and “Ooh La La” -- to be included in a Wright-produced compilation, The Best of Splash One, which ran on public access during SXSW in ‘89 and ‘90. The master tapes of the complete concert were subsequently bulk erased and reused by the cable company, since Lane had refused permission to air them." Arrrrrgggg!
